Baggage allowance is strictly limited to 15 kg per passenger‚ inclusive of hand luggage‚ and must be packed in soft-sided bags. For flights to and from Diani (Ukunda)‚ the baggage allowance is 20 kg per passenger. Infants not occupying a seat are not entitled to a baggage allowance. Passengers traveling with significant excess baggage are advised to pre-book a freight seat at 75% of the adult fare‚ which allows for the confirmed carriage of up to 65 kg of additional baggage.

Acceptance of excess baggage beyond the standard allowance is subject to the sole discretion of the aircraft captain‚ based on aircraft payload limitations and available space. Where accepted‚ excess baggage will be charged at a rate of USD 3 per KG.

Right to Refuse Carriage of Baggage

We may refuse to carry baggage that does not comply with our requirements or that is improperly or insecurely packed. Information on suitable packing and acceptable containers is available upon request.

Right of Search

For safety and security reasons‚ we may request to search or scan your person or baggage. If you are unavailable‚ your baggage may be searched in your absence. If you refuse‚ we may decline to carry you and your baggage. We are not liable for any damage resulting from a search‚ scan‚ or x-ray unless caused by our negligence.

Checked Baggage

Upon acceptance of your checked baggage‚ we will issue a baggage identification tag for each piece. Checked baggage must be clearly labeled with your name or personal identification.

Checked baggage will be carried on the same aircraft whenever possible. However‚ for safety‚ security‚ or operational reasons‚ it may be transported on an alternative flight and delivered to you upon arrival‚ unless local regulations require your presence for customs clearance.

Unchecked (Carry-On) Baggage

Carry-on baggage must fit under the seat in front of you or in an overhead compartment. If it does not meet size or weight requirements‚ or is considered unsafe‚ it must be checked in.

Delicate items (e.g.‚ musical instruments) may be accepted in the cabin only with prior notice and approval‚ and a separate charge may apply.

Collection and Delivery of Checked Baggage

Checked baggage must be collected promptly upon arrival. Storage fees may apply for unclaimed items. Baggage uncollected after three months may be disposed of without liability.

If baggage is misplaced‚ the airline will track and deliver it within the domestic network within 24 hours. A passenger will be required to complete an indemnity form for lost baggage‚ subject to verification.

Only the holder of the baggage check and identification tag is entitled to receive the baggage. If these documents cannot be produced‚ the baggage may be released only upon satisfactory proof of ownership.

Baggage FAQs

  • Is there somewhere to store excess baggage? Yes. A complimentary secure storage facility is available at our Wilson Airport office. Please inquire at the check-in counter.
  • Is the baggage allowance inclusive of hand luggage?  Yes. Passengers with significant excess baggage are advised to book a freight seat (Y-class only)‚ which permits an extra 75kg. Excess baggage may only be carried at the captain’s discretion‚ subject to payload and may be purchased at $3 per Kg on or before departure.
  • Why must luggage be in soft bags? Many aircraft used on our routes have luggage compartments with limited and irregular space‚ making large rigid suitcases difficult to stow. Soft bags ensure efficient use of space and safety.
  • Can I carry sports equipment? Large sports equipment (surfboards‚ bicycles‚ golf bags‚ etc.) is not accepted unless requested in advance. Golf bags may be accepted when operating Dash 8 aircraft and are charged at USD 10 per bag per sector.
